The 2-Minute Rule for Building Any Habit

The two-minute rule is simple: any new habit should start in a version so small it takes less than two minutes. Not the full workout — putting on your shoes. Not reading the book — opening it to the first page.

This sounds too easy to matter, which is exactly why it works. The barrier to starting most habits isn't physical, it's psychological — the task feels big enough that avoiding it feels reasonable. Shrinking it below the threshold of resistance removes the excuse entirely.

The two-minute version isn't the goal forever. It's the entry point that gets you moving on the days motivation is at zero. Once you're doing the two-minute version consistently, expanding it happens almost on its own, because showing up is the hard part — continuing is comparatively easy.

Most people fail at new habits by starting too big and quitting by day five. Starting absurdly small and still doing it on day ninety is the actual win condition.

Every daily page inside RESET 90 is built around a two-minute-sized minimum.
